When I started watching SNL, I started with season 26 (2000) and then watched up until the current season which was 2010 at the time. I found that was a great entry point.

It was just groundbreaking. The shows last forever and most sketches don't stick that's why you see the same highlights in every comp. When it hits, it hits

@wokeupnew I started watching around 2008 or 9, went back to around 2000, and everything up to 2017 or 18 is pretty golden, with the exception of the few dud episodes that would come along each season.

@TheThinWhiteDuke Yeah I've seen most of the famous stuff, and even a lot of stuff that was criticlly acclaimed at the time just doesn't hold up to fresh eyes (Waynes world comes to mind). But this first episode was a whole other level of bad. Sketches would end without even the slightest hint of anything actually funny. It was really a trip.

People always say that the first five years were the best but they're really not. Just like now, every show has its hits and misses.

But the best thing on peacock for SNL is their streaming channel within the app that is just completely made up of random, or sometimes curated, sketches from all the eras. My wife and I sometimes put that on if we have nothing else to watch.

I started watching SNL in the early 90s (still my favorite era) in Junior high and have watch fairly consistently throughout my life though a bit less consistently in the late 90s mid 00s when I spent more time out and about.
