It really depends how deep you want to get into each town, but you could do 2-3 days in Montreal, 1-2 in Ottawa and 2-3 in Toronto. Lots of museums at each place. Montreal & Toronto for restaurants and night life. Ottawa for museums and some nature (Gatineau Park). You can PM me if you like.

For a week, I would say just stick to the Montreal area (this could include Ottawa and/or Quebec City)
The Toronto area (which should include Guelph and the Niagara Escarpment) would also be deserving of its own week.
You could do the whole shebang in a week, but you'd be missing a lot.

We did Toronto and Montreal over about 10 days, we even stopped by Niagara Falls (which is amazing). Toronto is like visiting Chicago. Plenty of fun places to eat, drink, and shop. Montreal is more like visiting Wintery New Orleans. The old part of the city is beautiful and there’s a surprising amount of strip clubs.
