this seems to be the overwhelming trend these days, 3-4 singles released in lead up to album. i don't like this trend either, but looks like it's here to stay.
I’d prefer 2 pre-release singles at the most. 3 seems to be the norm these days though. 4 was a bit surprisig to me, particularly since they did the first 3 all at the same time. M83 did like 4 or so at one time, right? Oh well, at least all of these songs have been really strong. Fun video too.
I'm with you on 2-max as my preference. That said, the one helpful thing in 3-4 is when it comes to brand new artists, and I'm contemplating a pre-order of their album. For example, I loved the first DEBBY FRIDAY single SO HARD TO TELL, and was thinking of pulling the trigger. The second wasn't my thing, and now I see a third dropped today, which will prob help me decide.
I mean, it's not like her album is gonna sell out, so I don't feel pressure to get the first pressing or anything, but for me, this is a minor benefit of this current trend, if I was pressed to identify one.
