My remastered 97 mix still has a tonne of what sounds like brick walled distortion. I suspect the MOV might be using the old digital files... Though it says remastered so I dunno...
Well it's really odd, it appears similar but Kevin Gray apparently cut the 2012 one and the Iggy mix is much cleaner than the MOV. I agree that I want to hear the distortion but this is almost digital clipping that I'm hearing on this and I could do without it... IF the 2012 is actually cleaner.
What pressing of Fun House do you have? I just grabbed the 2010 which everyone seems to say is the best but it appears to be pressed by Rainbo which scares the hell outta me.
Absolutely zero qualms with this Funhouse pressing. No surface noise. No noise between songs. No rumble during dead air. Wish everything was this quiet.
Wow, I guess Rainbo stepped up, looking forward to spinning this. Though I know full well mine will be effed up one way or another... Gunna grab that Kevin Gray Raw Power 2LP as well, if it's a lot better I'll sell my MOV version...
@dhodo I'm gunna grab the Gray tomorrow, so I'll let you now. Though I'm seeing reports that later pressings of the 2012 one were much worse than the earlier ones so who knows...
While we're on Detroit music gods, I gotta share this clip of the MC5 basically playing underneath an overpass in 1970. Some of my favorite footage. Wayne Kramer was on. Dig it.
