what incentive is there to sell with this level of uncertainty? if it's a high dollar item, you risk losing high dollars. if it's a low dollar item, the potential hassle if things go south isn't worth it. just say 'sorry but no' and move on.
I didn't realize discogs has banned sales to Russia. I had someone reach out to me on an expensive item but I didn't have a shipping policy for Russia set. I wanted to make sure I wasn't doing anything illegal with respect to sanctions so I tried to research it and found that the DHL still offers a postal service to Russia from Germany. 1/3
2/3 The sanctions didn't seems to restrict vinyl records. Anyway I still didn't feel totally comfortable so I just replied and told them I wouldn't ship to Russia.
In terms of advice - well again make sure you check on sanctions as those are country specific and change often. As long as your package is insured I don't see a problem. You can send them an invoice directly via PayPal by email. Again have a quick look there on the seller protection if it covers sales to Russia but I assume you'll be fine.
I just wouldn’t go there personally. Not worth the hassle plus the whole moral dimension of selling into a autocratic dictatorship trying to wipe their neighbours of the globe.
that's wild. I had a guy buy from me who lived in Brazil and he had a forwarding service in Miami that shipped the record down to him. I think he must buy a lot of records if you're paying for that service.
I have a service like that in NJ to be fair. I only get charged per package but once it goes over a certain price it’s often cheaper than shipping direct from the store. I’ve been using it less since the Euro dropped against the dollar because the value just isn’t there as much anymore.
