Like London Calling, I still remember hearing New Day Rising for the first time. I had listened to Black Flag for a year or so before hearing NDR but nothing prepared me for it. When Bob's Flying V kicks in on New Day Rising with that teeth-shattering speed rift, hairs on my arms stood up

Still don’t really love the earliest hardcore stuff because it’s just never been my thing. And I may be the only person on the planet that thinks “Zen Arcade” is rather overrated. That said “New Day Rising” and “Flip Your Wig” have really become favorites, and are right in my wheelhouse. The first half of FYW is pretty much perfect IMO.
