No hype, but every single one of their albums across the past 20+ years is solid at worst. An all too rare accomplishment these days, and one that sets them apart.
Agree with @hatfieldpdx and I feel like their live show improved a ton from earlier days. Saw them a couple times on this last tour and they blew the roof off.
I like that all their albums tweak their base sound in some way slightly, but they all still clearly sound like Spoon. The way @Lee Newman feels about Spoon is how I feel about Radiohead…since “In Rainbows” at least. And that’s my hot take.
@Matt M and @hatfieldpdx I can respect that opinion. I feel like the same could be said about The Black Crowes in their heyday and Tom Petty, but they weren't getting nods for best albums for "solid work."
Spoon is not offensive. I'm not gonna change the channel. I'm also not rushing out to buy their stuff.
