I put CDs, vinyl, cassettes together. I wouldn't see a reason to have different accounts. You could always create a CD folder. But you can filter by format so it all works out.

What the Diaper King said. You don’t have to be a savage like Mr. Anderson 😁

You can set up folders in your Collection, I have my whole collection cataloged with individual folders based on format. It's pretty easy to do

Same account, different folder for me as well. Worked fine.

Thanks y'all. Yeah @scotthilk, it's giving me anxiety too, but my wife's bestie is in insurance and when she was over said I should do it "just in case" seeing as I have several thousand CDs. She also said we should do the same with all our books, which is even worse as we have bookshelves in ever room in the house and there's no real Discogs for books. (Goodreads I guess, but it's way more work).

I have a separate discogs account for LPs and 45s.

We use an app called Libib to track our books. Doesn’t have a resale market, so you can’t track value like Discogs, but it is a good way to record what you have. It’s also outside of the Amazon/Goodreads ecosystem, which is a bonus.

@TCell I'm pretty sure most home insurance does not cover CDs or LP collections beyond like $1500. In general I believe you have to have the collection separately appraised in order to actually have it covered and that will likely quadruple your insurance costs per month. At least that's what I found when I looked into it.
