@Ginormousthumbs they were also super rude when I asked if I could watch as they went through my stack to see what they were offering for some of the pricier items. I've often felt they've given me less than items are worth in the past but close enough that I didn't want to tote my records home. This time I actually laughed out loud and just walked away with my records.
I brought in 10 CDs to MusicMillenium last month (big mistake) and I got offered $16...but I was hoping for $20. I didn't want to lug them back home, so I bit my tongue and took the offer.
A reminder for me to never set foot in there if I can help it.
i’ll never forget how one of my favorite records, arrows aim in gainesville, fl, had a new owner in 2018 who did this exact thing. absolutely no one liked this, and the store went downhill to the point it closed permanently the next year
There's actually a fairly new store in SF called Originals Vinyl where the guy actually told me why he could only buy five of my records (what sells for him, how some are still available from his vendors, etc) I decided to keep one and then we agreed on a fair price for the other four. I'll gladly go back there again to sell and shop.
I can't figure out how the guy at my local does it. He told me he offers 50% of what he can get it from his distributors for. But sometimes that means next to nothing on items that were pricier, and way more on items that were cheap. Either way I typical lose selling there, but it's nice to get rid of stuff I don't want to bother with dumping on cogs.
Amoeba ? I've heard the trade in desk has gone down recently. Find another store, my locals use discogs median as a base then a % and we havn't had any issues agreeing. If I think it's on the low side, I counter offer and they accept. Also find out who the most fair buyer is at the store, sometimes ones are conservatives than others. Always take credit, If you need dough sell online but then you have fees
