If the spindle hole is too tight, different tables have different thicknesses, it can appear bowed if you try to push it down. If it was a record I owned I would gently widen it with a biro and once it was a clean fit then determine whether it was bowed.
I’d probably not ask a buyer to do that though, I’d likely offer full refund upon receipt of the return.
I told them pack it up safely and send it back for a refund on arrival. I can’t tell from the video they sent and don’t feel like arguing. They mentioned being on vacation and having a neighbor bring it in and I feel like it sat in the sun for a bit but that’s just an assumption.
I was going to make them eat the return shipping cost since I don’t feel like this is my fault but I guess it’s only $3.80 or so. What do it do if it returns damaged from usps?
If he paid through PayPal then you can get him to raise it as an issue and dispute it in there. If not the call is really with you on how you handle it and what offer(s) on part payment you extend. Document everything with photographs.
There was insurance for original shipping but I’m worried about the possibility of damage upon its return. Should I ask them to insure it for return? I’m assuming the original insurance wouldn’t cover damage upon its return. I just don’t want to refund the money and have a record of significantly less value.
