It was insured but doesn’t seem like something covered by that.

The spindle hole kinda seems like BS but the bowing may not be? I’d ask for pics and go from there. $180 is a lot of coin to play with,

Obviously if you refund, he’s sending it back right?

If the spindle hole is too tight, different tables have different thicknesses, it can appear bowed if you try to push it down. If it was a record I owned I would gently widen it with a biro and once it was a clean fit then determine whether it was bowed.

I’d probably not ask a buyer to do that though, I’d likely offer full refund upon receipt of the return.

Tell them to mail it back and you’ll refund it. I usually pay for the return shipping in that case as a seller

I told them pack it up safely and send it back for a refund on arrival. I can’t tell from the video they sent and don’t feel like arguing. They mentioned being on vacation and having a neighbor bring it in and I feel like it sat in the sun for a bit but that’s just an assumption.

I was going to make them eat the return shipping cost since I don’t feel like this is my fault but I guess it’s only $3.80 or so. What do it do if it returns damaged from usps?

If he paid through PayPal then you can get him to raise it as an issue and dispute it in there. If not the call is really with you on how you handle it and what offer(s) on part payment you extend. Document everything with photographs.

Did you get insurance on it from USPS? If not, they likely will not do anything for a damaged item.

There was insurance for original shipping but I’m worried about the possibility of damage upon its return. Should I ask them to insure it for return? I’m assuming the original insurance wouldn’t cover damage upon its return. I just don’t want to refund the money and have a record of significantly less value.

Which brings me to my next question. If I get this back and flatten it (if it requires flattening) does that change the grading of the record?

If you had insurance for the one way, that should suffice for ANY damage that happens to it.
