FWIW, we watch Stranger Things with our soon-to-be 7th grader, and he LOVES it. He was sitting next to my wife when we watched, and she flinched pretty hard at one scene. He told her she can’t sit next to him next time we watch

Thank goodness I was able to watch the horror and sci fi that I had access to as a kid in the 70s & 80s, growing up in a strict household. The bits that got past my parents, plus the books I consumed, fed my imagination and appreciation for all things dark and spooky.
