USPS sucks so bad. They didn't use to be this bad, I have also noticed if they go through certain hubs, good luck. Looking at you Memphis.

To kvetcha's point, that usually means the shipper has a label prepped but hasn't actually dropped the item at USPS.

Yup 100% what @kvetcha said. Now, I'm no Big Postal apologist and there's plenty they do to earn disdain. But in this particular instance, you need to recalibrate your sight.

Sometimes the shipper drops it off, but they don't scan it in at the start.

@djdavedk can you not sense the confidence w which I wrote my piece?! I'm really going to need you to not make counterpoints - especially ones that make sense - that upend my position. Jeez, who does a diaper baby have to swaddle around here to get a break?!!!
