Tascam makes excellent devices...might be higher end though. The Tascam CD-A500 is not too expensive.

Seriously, Look for second hand and if you are worried about condition you can always look for a refurbished devices on eBay. Last year I got a refurbished Onkyo dual cassette deck with origininal box and manual for around $150 and it's worked perfectly.
