Check surprise billing laws in your state - some states have protections against this behavior your insurer can enforce - GA has some sort of law surrounding this at the state level (not sure it includes labs). Also review the No Surprises (federal) act - I think OON Labs in this scenario may be included

Yw! It doesn't change the main point about the American Health Care System of course. This shouldn't need to be a thing at all. I'd consider a grievance against that doc unless your wife really likes him/her.

@waruv the Federal act is only for any facility that delivers emergency services, so labs don't count. With my HDHP and my IN NETWORK lab, my rheumatic lab blood draws and processing was only $1400. Yeah, the US health care system sucks.

As in the services cannot be surprised billed if they were administered during an emergency.

I took "non-emergency care from out-of-network providers at in-network facilities" to possibly include labs but nolalady eats, sleeps, and breathes this stuff and I no longer do so I trust her advisement. Maybe look at GA Provisions. It sucks. I'm sorry.
