Reckless was always my favorite to visit when I was in town. It’s been awhile since I’ve been to Chicago though. Dusty Groove and Bric-A-Brac were a couple other faves. It probably depends on what neighborhood you’re in more than anything though.

Where in Chicago are ya? Reckless is a big one. You could also check out Laurie's Planet of Sound or Interstellar Space. The ladder being a bit more jazz focused.

I'm in Logan Square / Avondale. BUT I have a car and am ALL over the place for work.

Definitely gonna check out Reckless.

Reckless in Wicker Park would be a relatively close.

I’ll never shop at Shuga ever again. They are one of the stores that tripled the price of all in-stock John Prine within hours of his death. Screw them. Dusty Groove was cool the last time I went but that was a few years ago.

There's Championship Vinyl but the staff are assholes and they chase you if they think you shoplifting. It's a part of town that attracts the bare minimum of window shoppers. But the owner used to be a big local DJ

@MikeH Yeah-- it was very clear they are constantly keeping any eye on Discogs and adjusting the new vinyl they have on shelf accordingly-- regardless of what they paid for it a month prior.

Complete douchbaggery. Something tells me I'm gonna wind up missing Amoeba quite a bit.

Also-- to all the Chicago peeps. Let's find a show to go to. Even if it's just Kingston Mines (which I went to for the first time last night).

Reckless and Dusty Groove are right by Shuga.

Dusty Groove is my go-to, but it depends on your tastes. They’re great for funk/soul, jazz, hip-hop, global. Newer indie/rock, not so much.

Reckless is better for that. Probably closest comp to Amoeba here. There’s a few in the city, but the Wicker one is the one to go to.

Up on the far north side of the city, Laurie’s and Rattleback are good.

In Lakeview/Lincoln Park, there’s Gramaphone (for electronic), one of the Reckless branches, and Dave’s. Haven’t been to these in a couple years though so not sure how the pandemic’s affected them.

I ordered this from Shuga, only because it was the cheapest I could find online.
