I guess it happens to most vocalists. Robert Plant was at his best in 69/70, by 73 and particularly 77 it couldn't hit the same high notes. What I remember from Knebworth is that everybody was singing along so loud it's no wonder his voice was a little ragged. (I think it was better at the Loch Lomond shows a week or two earlier)
Funnily enough I’ve not heard many oasis shows where he sounds great through the soundboard, he always comes across much more nasal that I remember from being at the same shows. He did also go through that stage of just shouting which he seems to have gone away from again thankfully with his solo stuff.
I had that too - There and Then was it called? I also had the Earls Court video bootleg as well. But now everything's on YouTube. Didn't see Oasis much after 97 apart from one v raggedy gig in 00/01 in Paris
Yeah I’m guessing that I’m maybe 3 or 4 years younger? I’m 38 now so I’d have only been 12-15 so I was just that little bit too young to go see them on my own/with friends in 95-97. The first gig I saw was at Leeds Festival in 2000 and Noel wouldn’t even look at Liam after the big fall out earlier on the tour. It wasn’t great.
I saw them again 02/05/09 in Manchester. 2005 was a really good gig, it’s the one that’s the bonus DVD on Lord Don’t Slow Me Down. The other two weren’t as good but a bit better than other reports of them at the time made out, I figured they were raising their game for the hometown show.
Yup, you're right. I'm 42. 94/95 was the start of my gig going. Still most of my favourite gigs come from that time. Stone Roses in 95 (John Squire's last gig), Blur at Mile End, Jeff Buckley - it was a good time to be a teenager
Yeah at the gig they had to go off stage for about 20-30 mins while the security team moved everyone back and fixed and braced the barrier at the front.
