Rude awakening in VA that the dem strategy of running a "not trump" campaign with little other substance is played out.

Buffalo was easy to figure, initial low turnout/predominantly inner city primary, ignorant 4 term mayor, but big developer money, panic, dirty politics, outer rim city turnout, and equally ignorant challenger won the day in the end.

I'm honestly baffled by VA right now.

The results in VA are disheartening but keep things in context. The Commonwealth hasn’t a elected Dem Governor in the past 12 years. Even solidly Blue states like Vermont, Massachusetts, Illinois, etc.. end up with GOP Governors from time to time just as States like Kentucky and Louisiana end up with Dems occasionally. Who knows what will happen 1 or 3 years from now.

Do nothing centrists already blaming progressives again. So long as the Dems keep trying to do the same shit that let to Trump that's what we'll get. Wildly popular policies are killed by the Dems because ultimately they hate poor people just as much as Republicans.

The Dems better start waking up and smelling the coffee. The GOP is playing for keeps, not just to win in 2024, but indefinitely. The GOP gets accused of using Trumpisn to win, yet the Dems seem to be doing the same thing thinking just denouncing Trump is enough...............stop yourselves.

Trumpism is the most visible sickness in the GOP. But below it there are so many levels of ugliness, combined with ruthless lawmaking that stacks in their favor, no matter what the Media says. And they play the Media as being evil liars, even though they use it also.

One of these days the Dems might try actually embracing the incredibly popular progressive policies that people actually want, instead of continuing to do nothing. But I guess it's much easier to keep taking donor money.

@JohnnyCashFan i didnt follow Buffalo before last night, but seeing a write in candidate win after losing the primary is just so crazy to me! like that cant be a common thing

@Fleetwood-Matt He tried to get on the ballot on a lower party line as well, but the courts threw it out on a technical filing deadline. Once the pr machine promoted her as a Socialist, huge local and outside money was spent, and she was seen with AOC in town she never had a chance. That and the outer wards in the city (south/north) are not progressive, they are conservative 70's democrats.

For the record I'm not a fan of Everything Democrat. Some Republican policies aren't bad. It's funny that these party members don't want to cut the budgets on THEIR projects, just the others. Nobody wants to budge, so the debt/deficit goes up. Add to that the corruption across the board, PACs and career lobbyists, hidden money sources buried under patriotic names... I just can't even with this country.

@BjorgenFjorgen not saying some polices don't make sense, I'm an old libertarian who served his country. But after a few senate seats and Bernie most of this country is red outside of the cities and socialist and progressives are bad words there. Wait until the senate races next year I'm afraid.
