Don't know about the vinyl scene, but highly recommend the Rue Mouffetard Market! I always try to stay within waking distance. Also if you're into books make sure to check out Shakespeare and Company!

I've been to Betinos & Syncrophone pre cv and enjoyed my visits with staff who were not snotty or anti foreigner like a few other shops I stopped at. Paris Jazz Corner for jazz, Crocodisc in the Latin Quarter has good diggin and Euro bins and cheap lunch and shopping for the ladies in the area,Superfly is legendary,As Hemotop mentioned try and hit the Brocantes-flea markets although we did not have the time.

Superfly Records for sure. I also like Crocodisc. My favourite quartier is probably the Marais on the right bank. Start at Place des Vosges and walk around. Great falafel on Rue des Rosiers
