From the internets. Just go to the provinces COVID page and you can download it. The first batch are for birth months Jan-April so to not overload the system.
My COVID conspiracy theory is that it was started by the QR Code Industry. Think about it. QR codes were almost extinct and then bam along comes the 'Rona and now you are seeing those damn things everywhere. Deep state stuff man.
We've been using them for a month and a half as an app. The QR code itself has been out since May. Went pretty smoothly all around. Why is this such a shit show over there? I know, I know... you'll all say "Doug Ford". But it's not like our fearless leaders aren't from the right here either.
@JohnnyCashFan Yes, Quebec has been using them for access to non-essential services since Sep 1 (theatres, sports, restaurants, bars, gyms - not health, shopping, groceries, education, public transport). Ontario has been using a vaccine pass for a month but are just putting the simpler QR code system in place now. Canada will be requiring it for planes and trains.
Ahh, same one. Well, if it helps, my other friend in Montreal says it's helped (not sure if you agree), their numbers are down there in Quebec and as you know it's been rough. Don't want to get political, so just hang in there and stay safe and come down and visit soon after Nov 8. Thinking of seeing my god kids in Toronto in person again one day brings tears to my eyes. Man!
The vaccination rate in QC is 78% globally, most which are <12 yo non-eligible and exempt from the vaccine passport (total is 90% coverage one dose, 85% fully vaxed). The numbers I am seeing for ON is 88%/83% (one, two) for eligible and 77% globally. So the passport measures are mainly to protect from the few recalcitrant (that represent the majority of infections, hospitalizations and transmission).
@Turbo yes but you have to remember, your leaders are actually human. It's tough to do these sorts of things when you're a lizard wearing a human skin suit like Doug Ford and his ilk. It's harder what with the no opposing thumbs and unwieldy tails...
@JohnnyCashFan I don't want to get into the political side of it too much either, but I agree it worked really well to keep transmission in check and to some extent kick start the economy because people feel safer going out to those places. It's a minor inconvenience really, and I'm satisfied the apps don't track information.
