I’ve never been embarrassed about my affection for DMB.

@Lee Newman I don’t think I was ever embarrassed necessarily, It was more me trying to reconcile where they fit into my life as an adult music fan. My friends and I were super obsessed in High School and early in College that there was a fatigue factor that developed.

…That combined with the Garage Rock revival of the early 00’s, moved my tastes in an entirely different direction musically. It took me until my mid 30s before I could even enjoy DMB musically again.

Interesting. The author was clearly embarrassed. Matthews is six years older than me and his lyrics often parelled my own experiences. In some ways I feel like I grew up with him. I still think Before These Crowded Streets is one of the best albums of its decade.
