Isn’t the rule something like 1/3 dry of whatever amount you intend to finish with? (Says the guy who also has never made a reasonable amount of rice in his life)
I looked at a packet of rice and it must have said a single portion is 75g so I weigh out 75g of dry rice and cook it and that works ok, could cut it down to 65g or 60g even and probably wouldn't notice too much.
@kvetcha if you get the use out of it I bet but man I already have so many kitchen gadgets and I don’t know that I can justify that kinda spend on a rice cooker for the once or twice a fortnight that I have a curry. I think the answer is just to ditch the homemade curries and order takeout with a side of pilau
Honestly if you're not going to get the use out of it, I think you might just be better off going for that instant or 5-minute boil-in-a-bag rice. It's already portioned and you don't have to worry about another pot to clean or extra rice to store or whatever.
