@Wolfman Jack Partial to the music farm or similar, but that's why I don't go to too many shows since it's hard to get out of town lately. Seems like 75% of our small venue shows are cover/tribute bands lately.
I can understand not digging their new direction since returning to touring in 2009, but any fan of psychedelic music needs to listen to 90s Phish. Transcendent stuff.
I'm in the "I can't stand the farm" camp. The Music Hall has had great bookings in recent years.....hell, months, just recently (last few months) I've seen great shows there by Colter Wall, Tyler Childers, Jim James, Infamous Stringdusters, Greensky Bluegrass, moe., Bruce Hornsby. And of course the pourhouse brings in great acts, hated to miss Hiss Golden Messenger a week or so ago.....
But, indeed, both like to have local allstars do those tribute shows, must sell tickets. Esp, the "Women doing (insert big male name)" series at the Hall. The Esperanza Spalding show at the CofC cistern for Spoleto was terrific as well, despite the disrespectful early exodus by all the snobby gray hairs leaving right at 10pm.
@Wolfman Jack Really? I thought their sound has gotten a lot better the last few years. Hasn't been anything there I've wanted to see in at least a year though. Music Hall is great but seats aren't as fun. Did you see Mdou Moctar at the pourhouse? Awesome show and only like 30 people there sadly. Sorry @sjaygray, if I get invited to a Phish concert, I'll check em out.
Seems kinda blah to me...
I kid, I kid.
