@Mather my wife asked what record stores I wanted to go to and I typed in record stores in London on google maps and showed it to her hah. She was not as amused as I was...
Mike I think your going to have to narrow it down to what you might like or be looking for, quick trips, or digging, etc then selaws, andy, and other locals, experienced can give you some specifics.
Soho is your best bet to visit a few in walking distance. Reckless Records, Sister Ray, Sounds Of The Universe and Phoncia are all a stone's throw from each other. There's also If Music which is fantastic for rarities (expensive though) which is easy to miss. You basically have to buzz an intercom and he will open the door for you, its then down a corridor and up some stairs.
Thanks @Selaws and @JohnnyCashFan ! Reckless and SOTU are where we were originally going to go so will probably do that and see if we can go anywhere else if there’s more time.
Check to see if there is a record fair on at Spittalfields market. I think it’s the first Friday of the month. Flashback is great, and there are a few in that area.
@Selaws - When I come back to London in 5-10 years time, I’d love to go vinyl shopping with you!!! It would be an absolute dream to spend a day record shopping in London with you!!!
If you can get into town when you’re in Notts you should do a day there too Mike. It’s not got the same selection but on top of the 3 chains (HMV/Fopp/RT) they have some wonderfully weird second hand places.
Notts is also actually a really nice sized city to wander around and have some lunch/a pint while you browse. It’s big enough to have a good selection of places but small enough to be able to walk everywhere from the train station or bus station really easily.
