Needles & Grooves

They are requiring proof of vaccination or negative test for all attendees, and it’s outdoors.

But so many people!

When was your 2nd dose ? Breakthrough infections have been reported at 0.5% I believe. Iceland is the worlds most vaccinated country has had a uptick recently of infection (just coming out of there primary tourist month/season) but has reported 0 deaths since May. Are you young and in good health ? Those are all things to consider IMHO. Being older we are being smart and waiting for the Delta variant to cool down.

Since you have been vaccinated and this is outside, I would probably risk it. Though there have been incidence of breakthrough infection, the likelihood of a vaccinated, healthy person getting extremely sick is rare--as in, I haven't come across it yet in the literature. I have seen breakthrough infections in immunocompromised people that have caused issue.

While I am fully vaccinated, I had to ditch going to see Dead & Co today due to Delta and the fact that I have two unvaccinated children at home. The equation for me will change when those under 12 can get vaccinated. But I think it is a personal decision on comfort level with the risk and not just for you, but who you can expose it to since it is clear that vaccinated individuals can pass it to the unvaccinated.

If it were me, and I was in generally good health, I'd probably feel okay going, but would also wear a mask

Everyone's risk profile is different. Outside + required vax/negative test is in my personal risk threshold, but if not yours that's 1000000% ok

The return rates from Lollapalooza have me very comfortable with outside festivals rn. Im going to p4k in a few weeks, and while I'm nervous, I plan on being smart and safe and don't really fear infection. I do plan on getting tested before I go home and see my family tho.

Same as @Woob_woob, personally. Numbers are good enough for me, a vaccinated person with no unvaccinated or immunocompromised people close to me, to feel comfortable taking a (very small) risk to enjoy certain things in life again.

Interesting, so I guess it's mostly probably fine. I was vaxxed early on, like got my second dose in March. Delta here is insane at the moment. I do work with children, so potentially exposing them is a concern...sort of. But otherwise, I am not around any unvaccinated people. Now everyone at work is vaccinated.

I have also looked at Lollapalooza as an example that it worked mostly okay for everyone, and that's a much larger festival. That put me at ease a bit, but our numbers locally have just kept going up which is concerning. I mean do I wear a mask at an outdoor fest or no? I have held off doing a lot lately because of these cases, even though I feel mostly confident in being safe, healthy, and vaxxed.

It's just more a what-if, which has given me an intense amount of panicked anxiety for a year+ now. Sometimes you gotta work through it with exposure, right? But is this relevant in these times? It's just a lot of questions like that going on in my mind.

Also I'm not aching to see all the bands, but when I bought the pass I felt like it would be an easy, fun return to live music. It's right down the street, and honestly Wilco sold it for me. I've never seen them live, and have wanted to for years.

Masks are a great second layer of protection if you feel that you are too close to too many people. At minimum, I would bring one, even if I didn't wear it the whole time. Humidity is another thing to consider. The dryer the air, the easier it is for covid to spread, so if it's a particularly crisp or dry day, a mask might be a good idea.
