Home ownership. Ain’t it grand?

Have an electrician coming out tomorrow to help me get a bedroom rewired for a ceiling fan and I’m very excited. Records are fun but fans are just behind food and shelter (and slightly ahead of water) in my hierarchy of needs.

@Indymisanthrope if you’re comfortable stating it, how much does that set you back? Looking to doing something similar 🤔

@Memo The one I snagged was $130, but as I've learned when it comes to household appliances, you can spend anywhere from $50 to $500 on one.

@Memo Do you already have a light fixture overhead that you want to replace w/ a light/fan combo? That is rather straight forward and you should be able to accomplish it yourself. Otherwise, get a prof unless you are comfortable w/ more in-depth electrical work and cutting holes, etc. But the actual fan should run you a few hundred at most (look at a HD or Lowes) unless you have elegant tastes

@Memo Paid about a hundred for the fan itself. Paying electrician $300 to convert the bedroom from old knob & tube wiring over to newer Romex, cut the ceiling hole where the old fixture was, and update the wall switch.
