Reminds me of a stint I did for a small french community radio when I was in my late teens. It was a friday afternoon and I was playing some current french pop - Les Rita Mitsoukos were on when the radio coordinator, who was a priest, called my producer and said essentially that the older people listening don't like that music. We knew he liked Enya, so we played Enya for the next hour.

Commenting on anything with a mass audience is becoming a shitshow. Earlier this week a similar thing happened to me; commented on that anti-semetic sounding Van Morrison song and woke up to hate messages across social media.

Okay, but why you talking shit about Enya?

Does everyone have to say something now, or can we just listen to music ? Life is short.

@Sonicpharmacist She was just never for me. I have to admit I kind of forgot about her until this post. I assumed she was a fad that boomers latched on to during the early 90's. I honestly didn't know she has lasting power or even a following.

I have never heard a full Enya album, but I can think of a few friends who love her. Isn't she Ireland's all-time best selling solo artist? It's not shocking that she'd have fans in most corners of the musical internet.

I like Enya. I have five of her albums on vinyl and I listen to them all the time. I don't care if its old people shit. It's good. Her voice/music is very soothing and sometimes you need that!

For the doubters, just listen to this song. Her voice is so beautiful.
