That cover is very Modest Mouse though

judging an album by it's cover is literally how countless artists have gotten discovered over all of music history. The music may back it up, but it's not off to a good start.

I don't hate it, there have certainly been worse covers in the last decade (American Dream, Masseduction), I at least find it intriguing. I'm worried less from the album cover than from the fact that their last album wasn't very good.

Also this album was supposedly supposed to come out like right after the last one cause it was recorded at the same time. Unless this is a totally different thing but I don’t think it is. STO is an album I honestly barely remember…

I didn't hate Strangers; I just spun it a few months ago and there's some quality stuff on there. The Ground Walks, Ansel, Pistol come to mind. I have hope the new one is good....

I HAVE BEEN SUMMONED AND I AM SO VERY EXCITED. also the cover is in line with a couple of weird music videos they've released over the last few years so it isn't surprising that this is the theme they're going for

Strangers was okay but I hope they go back in the direction of WWD

@ranbalam Pistol may be the worst song they've ever recorded, but there are some decent cuts on there! I enjoy Lampshades, Cyotes and Pups pretty well.

I know some people don't consider Good News and We Were Dead as good as their old stuff, but I would absolutely love more in that vein.

@ayayrawn Do I like Good News as much as the ones before it? No... but I do kind of consider it a minor miracle that such a truly weird album had as much mainstream success as it did, and I'll happily listen to it whenever.

Strangers is the only MM album I don't love.

Yeah there’s no way they will ever do anything like the first 3 albums. If it’s anything like Good News or We Were Dead then that would be excellent

There is a pretty great EP somewhere in Strangers, though, I think...

Strangers is comfortably my least favorite album, but its largely because there are some TERRIBLE songs that drag down some very solid tracks..."Shit in Your Cut", "Ansel", "Tortoise and the Tourist" are great cuts with some late 90s MM vibe
