Yes there is no duty. The amount is a threshold that assumes it is for personal use and not subject to import duties that say something for business is.

It's been a while since I looked up the value but around 800 seems right. It is a high number. Something less could be subject but I think that number is prob an easy way to filter out a lot of stuff

I've never paid import duties for stuff coming into the US.

So I could buy 5 baubles at $10 each from a seller in Norway and the assumption is that's for personal use. But if I bulk buy 200 baubles I think the logic goes that I'm buying to resell

I know I’ve bought carts, styli, and even some parts for my bow that were $200-400 and never got dinged for duties. But I think $400ish was the most I ever spent on a single purchase.

Meanwhile, in Canada. Order something over $30 from the States and get dutied. FREE TRADE EVERYBODY
