It’s nice to know that some things haven’t changed.

They come for the charm, but they stay for the hot takes.

Today I was like "weird that I've never heard them" so I went on spotify. "Oh, I thought this was from a commercial."

I feel compelled to ask a couple questions:
1) What was your first time hearing/experience with their music?
2) what are your thoughts on house music in general?

I remember hearing the songs the samples came from and it demystified them somewhat. It was like seeing behind the curtain and realising the Wizard Of Oz was all smoke machines and vocoder. Great vocoder use mind you.

My first time was at a rave in Melbourne Australia that was being held at a Aussie rules football stadium inside the locker rooms and concourse in 1997. I didn't find it particularly interesting then either.
House music in general is fine, although it's not my favorite "electronic music" style but irrespective of that I just don't find their albums particularly interesting. Honestly I'd take Cassius over DP any day.

@Mather That's totally fair. They're an interesting example of a band that can have such a different perception depending on how/when you encounter them. Those who hadn't heard them at all until "Get Lucky" would have a much different idea of who they are compared to hearing their Homework album for the first time in '97.

Random Access Memories is one of the most overrated albums in recent memory to me.
