like the new emojis, it's a feature of the latest forum software update that went live this morning. per @RenegadeMonster, 'these threads will show show the initial post as a question, and then display the reply that is the answer. People can choose the best answer to the question and the original poster or mods can mark the thread as answered'. (1)

this was just added, and we haven't explored it yet. but it could be useful for specific gear/tech/diy questions that frequently get asked, and perhaps easier to navigate than lengthy single threads. or it might not be useful at all. it's new, we'll have to see whether it works for us or not. (2)

start at 1:25 or so in this video to kind of get an idea of what it's supposed to be.

again, it's new to everyone, so we're not sure how useful it would be, but it was felt it worth giving a go. (3)

It’s an interesting idea for specific, objective questions. That last part being the sticky part that could get hard to parse out.

My take is the new forum should be used for specific question or help requests, and not general discussion about setups, equipment and what not. This way, if they ask a specific technical question the answer is easier to comeby for others. Replies to questions can be upvoted and a solution can be selected that appears right up top next to the original question.

This makes the forum a much more powerful resource to finding answers to questions.

Yeah I mean there’s the occasional yes or no question but the vast majority of issues need troubleshooting because various things can cause the most common issues (such as hum). On the recommendation side it’s hugely subjective and there are usually 2 or 3 solutions which are all right but for different reasons. I’m not sold, it’s fixing something that isn’t broken.

It' not meant fix anything that is not broken, but just add more features. And sure, it could be used for stuff like a hum. A discussion could ensure about troubleshooting and the step that found the issue could be marked as the solution. Everyone is still free to post in the regular existing threads.

We’re going to have to disagree because the solution in that case is only for that case and it’s missleading to call it “the solution” which directly contradicts your resource library point. Also I am allowed to disagree with you?
