I was supposed to go to Japan this late May into early June and am also looking to try again next March/April, so let me know what you find out.

I think it will depend entirely on whether we get a vaccine this Fall/winter or not personally. Edit: which is likely.

I've also got planned a trip to Japan in March/Abril and June. I'm waiting a couple of months more to see the situation. Plus right now, Japan has semi-closed their borders(or requiring any arrivals to quarantine for two weeks).

Let's hope we can make it to next year!

Uh no way should you plan to travel to Japan in March

I personally wouldn’t book any travel anytime soon. My fiancée’s sister and family booked a trip for the US for Australia for our wedding that was meant to be this August. Their airline went bankrupt and now they might be out $10,000...

I'd plan an extra good Spring 2022 trip.

Agree with others about waiting. However, springtime is great! Especially if you can time it around cherry blossoms.

Yeah. We've gone twice. In October and November. Would love to go in the spring. We've been watching a lot of Tokyo related YouTube videos this last week or so and are itching to go back. And my sister-in-law wants to go with us this time too. I would think that things would be fairly normal by that time period but who knows. The flights and Airbnb rentals are super cheap too.

I went in early June a few years ago and it was awesome. Missed the craziness of cherry blossom/tourist season but weather was still really nice.

Things are not going to be “normal” by March. Maybe a vaccine gets developed around that time but that would be extremely fast.

@gouis Historically, we've never had this many institutions working on a vaccine at one time. It's looking likely we get one this Fall at this point. Still going to wait to plan more travel, of course, but I think by next Summer it will be fine to travel and gather in crowds again. Things may not be "normal" as we understand it, but it'll be better.
