They support the arts? I would say there is an equivalent percentage of talent throughout the world, just not supported and promoted as much as GB.

Shit weather probably has a lot to do with it! Can only speak for Glasgow - Art School, cheap-ish rents, a bundle of good venues (at least one world-class) breeds continual growth. Add the fact that if you're in a decent sized city you can see gigs pretty easily; for the geography involved international bands can/have to play loads of gigs for such a small space.

Lots of the richest families in the world reside here and pump money into the fine arts
