i have the VMP record and half of ATLiens . Atliens is great if i recall that correctly .
dont really like Southernplaya.. i get its importance though. my vmp record remains unplayed though
I agree with @BazookaTooth thst Southernplaya is my least favoured. Both musically and rhyme wise they totally surpassed it with their next few releases.
Funny, I think it says a lot about the runs of OutKast and Aes Rock that we can start in different places. I would go Southernplaya...>Stankonia and I would put Bazooka tooth below Float, LD, NSP, Skelethon and IK, so that kinda screws up my 4. Hard to weight it to either side.
DOOM is hard there's so many so close together but up there for sure.
Public Enemy's 1st 4, ATCQ's 1st 4, Gang Starr's 1st 4, BDP's 1st 4, Aceyalone's 1st 4, Del the funky homosapien 1st 4 or 5 if you count Deltron, Eric B. and Rakim 1st and only 4, The Coup - all of them but Steal This Album - Sorry to Bother You....all should be right up there.
Others to consider:
Gang Starr: Step > Moment
The Roots: DYWM > Phrenology
Armand Hammer, but I need to spend more with the first two to really say it's true.
Tribe, even though Beats, Rhymes, Life falls off a little.
Roots & Gangstarr yes, tribe first 3 for me beats just falls short. Eric B a good shout too. I'm only familiar with Dels first 2 and deltron is on my list to try next with some others. @dhodo@jaycee
there are some absolutely incredible moments on Idlewild. Morris Brown is still hard to this day. Hollywood divorce too @Murfocakes I always considered it a soundtrack more than an official 6th album. Whats the actual position of it?
I'm actually really glad I sparked this conversation now, got some great suggestions and still have some catching up to do in HipHop. Thanks @ Everyone
Guessing my choice for Kanye might be different than most. I'd go with Graduation - Yeezus. OutKast Southernplaya - Stankonia is easily my favorite. And how has nobody mentioned 2pac Strictly - Makaveli?
2pac is my personal favourite artist of all time. I love Strictly, its the first album I heard at 8/9 years old that put me on to hiphop actually but if I'm honest I don't think it's as strong as the latter 3, I could easily go the biased opinion route and argue all his albums are amazing up to Makaveli lol but....(1) @Tj.
@Tj. (2)....honestly if I compare a pac run of 4 albums to a Kanye or Outkast run of 4, strictly doesnt hold up as well as the other 3 (me against to makaveli). Doest that make sense? To be fair aswell All Eyez On Me is a double and its amazing so thats an achievement in itself
you can certainly make an argument for it to count. No real rules. At first I just meant an artist and their first 4 albums all being but its kinda changed since @LeSamourai
