Funny you posted this. I've been on a big Clash kick the last few weeks, and I ended up ordering a used copy of that comp that is due to arrive tomorrow. I had the cassette version of it back in the day, but it got replaced with various other Clash comps over the years.

Even though I could pretty much replicate the playlist in Spotify, I really wanted that comp back in my collection. I like that version of 'Magnificent Seven' better than the version on "Sandinista!".

Just yesterday I finally, after all these years, made myself a streamlined playlist of my favorites from "Sandinista!". Cut out some of the stuff that has always put me off of that one. More like a double album instead of a triple, and it is so much better.

Today I was doing some cleaning around the place, and I listened to the "Live at Acton Hall" set from Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros. That was the show about a month before he passed where Mick Jones joined them for 3 songs. Really good show throughout. Joe's work with the Mescaleros is rather underrated IMO. They got better with each record.

@Aron Definitely agreed. I was really into the Clash in my early teens and have been on a kick again since I watched a Strummer doc a couple months ago. That finally inspired my to try the Mescaleros stuff and I can't stop listening to Streetcore.

They were a pretty tight unit by the time they were recording "Streetcore". Love that record. And as a live outfit, they sound really good in that Acton Hall performance. It's a really great setlist. Good mix of the best Mescaleros tunes and Clash classics.

I don't own any Clash records because while I reeaally like some of their songs, I am not feeling a lot of others. This compilation looks to have a nice chunk of the good stuff and I think I would get a lot of spins from it. Guess I need it.

@BjorgenFjorgen Which doc did you watch? Last week I re-watched "The Future is Unwritten", and the "Westway to the World" Clash doc. I really like the Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros one called "Let's Rock Again". Need to re-watch that one too.

@Aron Think it was The Future is Unwritten. I'll look up Let's Rock Again as soon as my library is open again. Don't see Acton Hall anywhere but YouTube but I'll definitely be checking that one out. Is that the benefit show for the firefighters mentioned in the doc?

Yep, that's the one. Mick Jones joined in on guitar for the encore which featured 'Bankrobber', 'White Riot', and 'London's Burning'. "Let's Rock Again" was a doc on Joe & the Mescaleros touring behind their second record, "Global A Go-Go". It's kind of sad in a way, because he's having to hustle to get people to come to their shows, but at the same time, it is so cool because Joe is really humble about it all.
