Ages ago I drove a friend to Toronto for the first time from the US. I said we need to stop at the Beer Store on the way. He couldn’t stop laughing when we got there and saw it’s called the Beer Store.
Only in Ontario. Personally I boycott them as it is run by the major breweries and they have a stranglehold what will be sold in them with regards to craft breweries.
@jamieanderson1968 I come from a place where you can get drive through daiquiris. Having a lone establishment just for beer (that's not a brewery) is strange to me.
In Ontario we have Beer Stores and LCBOs aka liquor stores (beer, wine and spirits) but beer and wine are sold in certain grocery stores across the province. Me personally, I go directly to the source, breweries, distilleries and wineries but to each their own
Beer Stores are an abomination. They used to be called Brewer's Retail. The business is owned by the massive beer companies and were a monopoly for decades. They are scumbags. I buy my beer from the liquor store or direct from the brewery wherever possible.
