Tame Impala is, honestly, a solidly okay band with flashes of brilliance. Currents is Parker's consistently best work, but the guitar-centered early stuff has more of the magic spark
@Woob_woob, Currents felt derivative to me, not all that different than the countless other bedroom pop artists cranking out slick, over-produced downtempo R&B-tinged tunes and beats. He stripped away what made him interesting and different. The song styles and instrumentation in The Slow Rush feel more interesting and unique. It’s harder to imagine this album coming from a different artist.
