I used the last notch on anti-skate post for the UltraTracker. Hence I was "a notch apart" with what MoFi is recommending...

I didn't realize Ultradeck even had a manual ;) I responded to your older post with the blank LP method which landed me on the second notch (from the base) with the Nagaoka and the fourth notch with the Ultratracker. I imagine these could be related to the cart weight, since Nagaoka is three...

This is a follow up to my own inquiry a month ago, a quick review of Nagaoka MP-200 being compared to the UltraTracker (bear in mind, with considerable mileage after 1.5 years of regular use). I posted my initial review a few weeks ago but quickly deleted it once I realized that the cart was...

Why not? I think the arm dampening by reducing the resonances actually increases the compatibility with different carts. The LVB cart you're considering is still technically a medium compliance cart (though at 22 um it's pushing it). Nagaokas have much lower compliance than Ortofon on par or...

Oh... In that case yeah, mount it and see how if you like it. Curious to hear back on what you find out.

Which resonance issues you're hearing? If I understand it correctly those are typically limited to very low frequency (sub 10hz) and cause needle to vibrate and mistrack. Considering MoFi arm is internally dampened, I'm not sure if LBV Black is that much off from MoFi carts to cause them (22 x...

One last bit of "wisdom": I would also try using the same flat record to measure VTA on (since all records have slightly different thicknesses and some are warped.) After that, you can also expect that thinner records than the one you used for VTA measurement will sound a tiny bit brighter and...

I second @Anthonyl, everything is correct. But be careful when loosening the screw, since it's the only thing that holds the tonearm support column in place. Hold the tonearm base firmly in the process, and then gently lower/raise it. Otherwise, you'll mess up the VTA set by MoFi and will spend...

Roger that! Yeah, what you're saying does make sense - when I was using the protractor installing the new cart I did notice the arm won't turn further than a certain point (the protractor had the overhang setting printed past the center hole which got me a bit flustered ;))

    I had no idea! How?

If you use the MoFi weight, on some records the tonearm will run into it (a design oversight, I guess) and a lifter will help to avoid that. I use Audio-Technica lift - a bit cheaper than similar lifts, works great and looks totally stock on the Ultradeck. A couple of people commented that they...

From M. Fremer post from long time ago (somewhere on the web), I have learned of a simple way to set the anti-skate: get a record with a blank side (typically a double-disk album with three sides of music and D side of nothing) or a CD (if so, place it with a shiny side up). Start spinning and...

Apologies. I was listening to more music and found some issues likely related to the cart not being broken in yet. To be accurate, I deleted my earlier review but will repost it later once it has Nagaoka's recommended 30 hours under its belt.

MP-200 looks pretty nice on the Ultradeck... Nagaoka design is not everyone's cuppa tea.

I'd do that as well but the motor on my deck is sometimes buzzy and raised cover reflects and amplifies the buzz further. To keep the noise to a minimum, my cover is always either on or (mostly) off.
