Spin The Black Circle - The Pearl Jam Thread

Been listening to it since yesterday. I disliked Gigaton major, but I am really liking this.

There's a reason why you can't give away a copy of the ORG Ole. Two good reasons, actually. 45 and mono. Both so, so wrong for Ole.

I would feel soiled if I did that. Hoffman forum dirtbag lawyers.

    Definitive Audiophile pressings

Honestly - stereo is virtually a must for Ole. Lots going on, the mono kinda mashes it all together.

I tend to agree. There have been some great films, but the majority of film investment is in dumbed-down CGI cartoons. It has seemed to me for some years now that in fact there is much more interesting TV being produced.

    a. in the 'audiophile world', the release generates the demand. The mastering engineer, the exclusivity, the cover type, the numbering, all the artifacts. Not the other way around. I doubt that anyone was calling Chad begging for Pablo. b. Chad has tons of experience selling records. He is a...

I agree, my choice of phrase could have been better. I should have been clearer. As one who was around back in the day - the 70's, albeit very young but hungry for music, I can say - Pablo wasn't a thing. It was considered very old school, and hit cutout bins really fast. Now, decades later...

I love prog! I can't stand the current crop of supposed singer/songwriters endlessly pumping out generic, self-absorbed drivel in their whiny voices. Pablo was started by Norman Granz essentially to record artists that he managed. These artists, for the most part, were past their prime and...

Exactly. The Pablo catalog generates little to no enthusiasm among long term jazz fans. There are a few gems - Ellington/Blanton, Basie Barbeque - but as a whole, Pablo was recording artists late in their careers - past their primes - with their best work behind them. The Tatum/Webster is a...

    The Blue Note Thread

I could care less. I can replace 6 MM 45's with a superior experience at 33, save increasingly precious shelf space, and better yet - sell those MM's and end up not only getting all for free, but coming out ahead! Great day!

That wouldn't work for me. You need to move. Priorities appear to be mixed up.

Record cleaning - what's your method?

All that dust on the needle means there is a ton of crap in the grooves, and your needle didn't get it all. Clean, then play again, and there will be a ton more on the needle. Then clean again. All those little pops aren't static - that would be consistent - so just keep cleaning, let the needle...

    Record Store Day 2024

The stereo tapes are trashed and not useable from my understanding, but hopefully the mono tape - much less use - isn't. still, there is a reason Craft issues this on RSD - no returns/exchanges possible.
