You are golden. I have an original Lee Hulko cut from '72 that is minty, and while the Bellman doesn't beat it, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference with a blindfold on. My gear is stupidly good and the room is properly treated and Bellman matched the original, and the original is a...

Agree. The German pressing was poorer pressing quality and sonically a notch below the Bellman cut. I have a second U.S. press from '76 and in my opinion the Bellman reissue cut is a touch better than that one, but it is very close.

Yep, got that sickness. There are other artists also well-represented in the collection. I'm thinking about developing a serious blow problem to replace the record collecting. The coke problem would be cheaper. Also, a blow problem would be easier to hide from my wife as I don't think a coke...

    Definitive Audiophile pressings

My Dad had these records in his collection. He had just turned 16 when The Beatles played on Sullivan. I saw my Dad play these U.S. versions when I was a kid. While I have minty analog UK stereos and monos, my dumb ass ordered this set because these versions meant so much to my Dad. That said...

Yes, Chris Bellman cut the Neil reissues all analog from the original master tapes (which are in great shape) and they stack up well against the original 70's Neil pressings. Neil did record a few albums digitally in later years, and though recorded analog in the early 70's I think Massey Hall...

The UHQR Steely Dan "Can't Buy A Thrill" sounds great on my system. I have a 70's ABC pressing, and I previously owned the Speakers Corner with the tape drag (which, despite the tape drag, was a really wonderful sounding record). This UHQR is really well done. I understand that some might be...

    Turntable Purchase Advice

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. The Technics SL-1200GR looks like a great table. My preference is for belt drive, though I recognize there are tradeoffs between belt and direct drive designs. Also, the "late May" in stock is apparently optimistic. Today I was told that they are transitioning...

    Turntable Purchase Advice

New member, and this my first post here. After a decade long hiatus, vinyl has pulled me back in (I feel like Al Pacino in Godfather III). Having gone from zero to 150 plus desired new or minty pressings in a few weeks (ecommerce is a glorious thing), I need a turntable! I am kicking myself for...
