    Best Music 🎶 of 2024!

On first listen, American Primitive, the latest from those old warhorses Old 97s', sure sounds like it ranks among their best records. There certainly isn't much radically new about it, but it's a very solid collection, catchy and energetic.

Ooh, how enticing! My first thought was . And Reed once put this at the top of his list of the best records of all time. Whatever you've got up your sleeve, @Yer Ol' Uncle D, I can't wait. Thanks so much for your ridiculous generosity.

Bandbox: an uncompensated review of an interesting new club

Gee, I hope the poor bastards that buy that edition from eBay know they won't get a 'zine with it.

Usually there is at least one downright poor choice amongst the nominees. Not so this year. And there really weren't any embarrassing choices amongst...

There has been a steady cutting back of showing clips from nominated films at the Oscars for awhile now. I remember being annoyed in the '90s when they started substituting rapid-cut montages of the Best Picture nominees rather than show an actual clip of the film. It seems we're lucky to even...

Bandbox: an uncompensated review of an interesting new club

Now, now, let's not forget that the Album Circle subscription allowed you exclusive access to enjoy a live interview with the band conducted by an employee of the record company. This perk would normally set your average customer back a grand or so. In this context, the $40 price for a surprise...

    Vinyl Me Please Essentials

Man, I wish there was only an hour of '80s Joni. But in all seriousness, Turbulent Indigo would be an outstanding choice for Essentials. And, based on Discogs, never before on vinyl.
