One vote for the Ultratracker. I ran a 540 on my Studiodeck for a little bit, but I thought that was way too much arm for the 540, whole lotta mass in the Mofi arms. The Ultratracker, if I remember right, was much heavier. I took the 540 off fairly quick. The only way to describe what it sounded...

    Sutherland Club House

I chased a very similar problem a few years back. Turned out the breaker was going bad. Was a simple fix that took me two months to figure out 🤬

I've also run the Audio Technicas on my Insight. I use the LC-1's and keep the gain to 40db. Works fine. I haven't used the VM540, but a VM750. I've run most of the 95 styluses at 40db, and they don't sound bright.

I run a small humidifier in the same room as the turntable. Originally bought it for precisely this reason. I run it all winter, although I turn it off when I run the stereo. Has taken care of the problem 100%. I keep a small humidistat in there to check, and as long as it stays about about 35%...

Also a Grado Platinum 3. The Insight (I'm guessing the other Sutherlands also?) let you load at 47k and run gain up to 60db...allowing the Grado Woodies to be ordered in Lo or Hi output. I run a Lo.

Let's See What Makes Your Vinyl Spin!

Well it seems to work in my listening area quite well. I really fight feedback here, and I don't have any now. I've had it for about a month, and am thrilled so far. I even left the Studiodeck cart on it, although I have a couple wooden Grados that I think would fit well.

Let's See What Makes Your Vinyl Spin!

Current state of things with a couple of new toys :) I picked up one of those Studiodeck Foundations when MD was blowing them out. It replaced a Technics SL-1500. I live in an older house with suspended wooden floors, and when turned up I always fight feedback and footfalls. I thought the...

    New User New Setup

I agree with that. I don't have one, I have one of those NAD units. I don't know if those wiim units have a ton of power, but they sure seem like a nice option for not a whole lot of money. And there's a bunch of nice sub-$400 bookshelves out there to pair with it.

    New User New Setup

Not sure if I remember this right, but didn't you run the Onkyo that was the rage at the WMP forum? I might be mistaken. But lots of people run something like a Yamaha AS-301 and a pair of ELACs and that's their endgame. That's affordable in his price range. In fact, if I was in that position...

    New User New Setup

I might be missing an obvious answer, but I don't see how he sends an output for a subwoofer with his setup. I'm assuming he runs an adapter from his Mani to those speakers.

    New User New Setup

Well this might not be a popular opinion, but here goes.... I wouldn't spend a penny on upgrading that turntable. I have that turntable, I bought it for my son. Seems to me that any money spent there would be wasted. You can't improve that tonearm, and I think that's where the Fluance's lose...

The Pro-Ject Pergola - Questions, Answers, Advice & Chat

I have a couple Projects floating around. One is an older one from 2004. On that one, the right dustcover hinge is longer by design.....so the area around the tonearm sits a bit higher than the left. I ran into the issue you have, so I shoved a small amount of plastic into the spot on the...

Well, truth be told. there just might be a real nice example of those in a box somewhere here with a new surrounds kit  Just gotta get them done.

    Incoming! The New Equipment Thread

I suppose I should just get the credit card out now for it. I got my LA-165's this morning. And yes, I did what you suggested and hooked them up to the main system. These are seriously good. So happy they didn't put metal tweeters in these, female voices are so nice with these and I think...

Nice color match with the console. Although it's kinda odd seeing your system with speakers of that size! I have a somewhat small listening area.....always felt that standmounts just work better in areas under 300-400 sq feet. My Model Threes are about as big as I'd wanna go.
