They are. The 225s are 50 bucks more, probably worth it if it's not a tiny room. With that amp, either one would make a nice starter setup.

This is really sharp! I love wide racks like that, easy to get around in. Yours turned out real nice. I like the curtains, also. I'm guessing a small difference in sound with them up? Really really cool setup. Congrats!

One vote for the Ultratracker. I ran a 540 on my Studiodeck for a little bit, but I thought that was way too much arm for the 540, whole lotta mass in the Mofi arms. The Ultratracker, if I remember right, was much heavier. I took the 540 off fairly quick. The only way to describe what it sounded...

I chased a very similar problem a few years back. Turned out the breaker was going bad. Was a simple fix that took me two months to figure out 🤬

I've also run the Audio Technicas on my Insight. I use the LC-1's and keep the gain to 40db. Works fine. I haven't used the VM540, but a VM750. I've run most of the 95 styluses at 40db, and they don't sound bright.

I run a small humidifier in the same room as the turntable. Originally bought it for precisely this reason. I run it all winter, although I turn it off when I run the stereo. Has taken care of the problem 100%. I keep a small humidistat in there to check, and as long as it stays about about 35%...

Also a Grado Platinum 3. The Insight (I'm guessing the other Sutherlands also?) let you load at 47k and run gain up to 60db...allowing the Grado Woodies to be ordered in Lo or Hi output. I run a Lo.

Well it seems to work in my listening area quite well. I really fight feedback here, and I don't have any now. I've had it for about a month, and am thrilled so far. I even left the Studiodeck cart on it, although I have a couple wooden Grados that I think would fit well.

I agree with that. I don't have one, I have one of those NAD units. I don't know if those wiim units have a ton of power, but they sure seem like a nice option for not a whole lot of money. And there's a bunch of nice sub-$400 bookshelves out there to pair with it.

Not sure if I remember this right, but didn't you run the Onkyo that was the rage at the WMP forum? I might be mistaken. But lots of people run something like a Yamaha AS-301 and a pair of ELACs and that's their endgame. That's affordable in his price range. In fact, if I was in that position...
