Curious to hear this; she’s my wife’s favorite artist. I think the price comes from being an independent artist and trying offer vinyl to fans in a way that is still profitable. People who just want the music can buy CDs for far less but we here are all crazy about our petroleum slabs.I’ve really fallen in love with May Erlewine’s music over the last few months and I’ll probably end up ordering this, but at $42 shipped it’s almost $2 per minute of music. And on top of that Diggers Factory lets you add TIPS? Sheesh.

Yeah I can't knock her for being an artist trying to make a living. It's the same thing that was being discussed re: Phosphorescent a few pages ago. Just one of those odd scenarios where it's definitely a flawed thought process to try to put a price on music per minute, but the sticker shock makes it hard not to frame it as that sort of value proposition.
