Pre-Order Thread

I was absentmindedly ignoring a staff meeting and happened to click it and it was back. Not even sure why I was watching it that closely, Up is in my low-tier of REM rankings. But yay timing?
I have a soft spot for Up. They took a big chance with the sound and I think it produced some good stuff. People on the Reddit thread are acting like it's the best REM album of all time. I don't know if I'd go that far. I think the scarcity is clouding their judgment a bit.

Seemingly not a pre-order anymore, but the unthanks are re-releasing their early albums on vinyl. Prrtyy amazing english folk

I think Up is the last “essential” R.E.M. album I need. Well, I still don’t own Out Of Time on wax (just cassette). I would still probably buy the remainder of their discography but on wax but I won’t be in a real rush and bide my time until I can get a good deal on em.

Up has some killer late period REM. “Daysleeper” and “At My Most Beautiful” are both top tier.

Daysleeper is a top 5 REM song for me.

Out of Time is probably one of my lesser favorites. It's got kind of a strange sequencing of songs and it never really seems to find it's groove for me.

It never struck me like some people. I suspect as a life-long REM dork, the no-Berry AND a new producer jarred me a bit and probably colored my opinion. I’m sort of looking forward to revisiting.

Up was the last REM I really liked. I just need a copy of Chronic Town to wrap up their discography that I want. I skipped all the post-Up reissues as those never did anything for me outside a couple tracks.
I found a nice Quiex pressing on that translucent brown vinyl of Chronic Town for around $20.
