This track came on the other day and I listened to lyrics for the first time in a long time and it’s such a great song. It’s basically a whole song about day drinking at a dive bar that faces a car wash. At the time of its release this was music for my mom and other old people, reassessing it now, I completely understand why this album was a massive hit. All the singles “All I Wanna Do”, “Leaving Las Vegas”, and “Strong Enough”, etc.. (I think like half the album was released as singles) are wonderful. I don’t own this album on vinyl but would not be opposed to picking up a copy. The whole album has very relaxed upbeat vibe.
 
The first time I got the greatness of Sheryl Crow was live at Roskilde festival in 1994 (I think). I had only heard the singles on MTV and thought they were pretty lame, but live the transformed into something else.
I actually think The Globe Sessions is her best album, as that one is a bit rougher around the edges, but this one is pretty great too. Haven’t listened to it in quite a while though, and looking forward to doing so today.

And something on New Order: A masterpiece of pop. 5 stars.

I don’t know how the cure did but I know that New Order had been increasingly involving themselves with early synths and electronic sounds from their second albim and the singles around it, the first album was really just leftover Joy Division material. In the run up to this had been diving headfirst into the New York underground dance scene. This is the album where they first began to collaborate with Arthur Baker in terms of production and mixing.

Love this era of New Order. It's a good continuation of what they were doing on Power, Corruption and Lies. Bernard finding his voice, the band finding it's sound and not just re-cycling the Joy Division sound. 4/5.
 
The Fall are one of those bands that fall in the right type of music from the right place in the right time that I should love them. I really don’t, at all, just don’t get it. It’s all a bit shit really and they have one of those fanbases that’s just utterly awful unless you’re a part of it.

Mark E Smith was colossal arse too which doesn’t help.
 
The last The Fall album we had here was surprisingly good. This one is not as good after the first listen. There is a lot to be said about how this influenced stuff that I love (like Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr. and the whole lo-fi scene), but I still don't see myself reaching for this instead of. say, Evol, Slanted and Enchanted or Bakesale.

Yep. I didn’t check track list when I posted last night, but I looked for an alternate version just because the date was 2016. Didn’t check apple either. Sorry.
