I was at that show!!! Maybe the worst sound of any concert I’ve been to, but I was in the upper deck.
it really was terrible. soundgarden was both muffled and tinny. worst sound i've ever heard in a concert was taj mahal opening for tom petty on the wildflowers tour -- i don't know if the sound dude just hated Taj or just didn't care or what, but they cranked the treble and it was physically painful to listen to the damn set.

Weezer, Phoenix AZ November 2001, right after the DBacks became the youngest team to win the World Series, beating a post-9/11 Yankees. Tenacious D and Jimmy Eat World opened; had no clue who Tenacious D were before that night.
I saw that line up at Redbird Arena I was a going to school in Peoria, IL at the time and we drove down and bought tix from a scalper and slept on my friends, girlfriends dorm room floor. I remember I had just totaled out my car and got a nice check for it and used some of that money to buy tickets and a Tenacious D “Cleveland Steamers” hoodie. Overall it was a fantastic show, “Only In Dreams” was an epic closer too.

Just a reminder - the absolutely incredible psychedelic rock comp "Psych-Out Christmas" finally got a reissue and releasing tomorrow. Pretty cheap at Amazon, too!

the first concert i remember was my parents taking us to a Loretta Lynn/Dolly Parton show at Dollywood in the late 80s

the first concert I attended with my friends was this sick DMB show in 1996. Soul Coughing opened.
That was the first time I saw DMB, it made them one of my top 3 favorite artists. I've been hoping they'd officially release it. They did officially release "Little Thing" from the show, so I know they in their archives.
"Lie in our Graves" was amazing.

I really did try to convince myself that I didn't need this, but I just finished listening to Seventh Dream Of Teenage Heaven for the first time in a couple years and it's such an insanely good album that transcends the 80s so fucking well that I couldn't help myself.

That album is a good system-tester. Really love it, and wish I had seen that early tour.

🙌🔥 DMB live is always an experience I can only imagine how great this show was at that time in their career
