Maybe "a minimum of 100" is more accurate. I think when people/companies deal in limited editions, and all that entails (supply/demand/price), they should be honest about the runs. I'm sure most labels overrun to allow for quality control and replacements, but then it's not really an edition of 1,000 or 2,000 if the other are let out without taking back the bad ones.

Not really chiming in on any other aspects of specific labels or people here - just as a record collector and buyer.

I have no stake in this discussion but just want to say that "limited to 100" does imply a maximum quantity of 100, whether or not you add the word "only" in front. In fact, a crowdfunding effort that requires 100 orders to succeed is the opposite of a "limit," it is a "minimum."

I am not trying to be snarky but just making this crystal clear, since apparently it is a point that has been brought to your attention by several customers over the course of many months that you still refuse to concede on. I wish you best of luck in continuing to improve and learn with your new business, for what it's worth.

  2. a restriction on the size or amount of something permissible or possible.

I gave up buying records for Lent this year as an experiment and coming to this thread has never felt so thrilling and intimidating haha.

[But seriously please do not let them reissue Cut Copy’s In Ghost Colours until after easter - unless it’s not a limited press. Or a first press of the Prince of Egypt Soundtrack or Natalie Merchant’s Ophelia. How many strikes do you get with Lent?]

That Target buy 2 get 1 free sale was like my Mardi Gras. I got so much that I felt like I should try the whole Lent thing out this year and see what happens. But yes, also trying to teach myself that I can be just as happy without owning every last record that I have any interest in, or that I’m only “aspirationally interested” in. Also, I need to start being more selective because I’m already out of storage space.

I guess that’s what happens in this year of unqualified time and I suppose that confirms my status as ”bad Catholic” because you are never actually free from that cult...

I mean it has in the US, but maybe it hasn’t happened yet everywhere. I remember being in the UK years ago and feeing like mother’s day snuck up on me and sending a card to my mom in the US the day it was being celebrated in the UK and using “transatlantic shipping” as the excuse for why it was going to be so late arriving to her when I talked to my mom on the phone, and she was like, “You sent me a mother’s day card already? Mother’s day is still two months away - are you sure you’re getting enough sleep?”
