Rank The Albums!

I don't remember what my original ranking of R.E.M. albums was on the old forum, but here's what I feel now.

1. Murmur
2. Document
3. Lifes Rich Pageant

10. Reveal
11. Fables Of The Reconstruction
12. Collapse Into Now
13. Monster
14. Accelerate
15. Around The Sun

Ahead of Bruce Springsteens new record coming out in a couple of weeks i thought id do his discography.

1. Darkness on the Edge of Town
2. Wrecking Ball
3. Born to Run
4. The River
5. Born In The USA
6. Nebraska
7. Greetings From Asbury Park
8. Working On a Dream

Well, I guess we need a new list and I'm always good for a somewhat indefensible take based purely on personal taste alone to try and spark some debate. Not sure Dino Jr. is the band to do that with this group.
Regardless: Dinosaur Jr.
1. Where You Been
2. Green Mind
3. Give A Glimpse of What Yer Not
4. Hand It Over
5. Without A Sound
6. Bug
7. Farm
7. I Bet On Sky
8. Beyond
9. You're Living All Over Me
10. Dinosaur

what otrayan artists to do next? hm.....

sarah blasko: what the sea wants, the sea shall have > i awake > as day follows night > [prelusive (ep) >] the overture & the underscore > depth of field > eternal return

I agree with this 100%
(and let me add that I need ATSWTSWH on vinyl in dark blue vinyl in my life now)

Hooverphonic

(ok, this is hard AF because they changed the main singer like, I don't know, six times? And they have an album where, instead of having a singer, they just called some fans to sing the songs. So it's like comparing apples and oranges. But let's try)

1. Jackie Cane
2. Sit Down And Listen To
3. The Magnificent Tree
4. No More Sweet Music
5. In Wonderland
6. The President Of The LSD Golf Club
7. Blue Wonder Power Milk
8. Reflection
9. Looking For Stars
10. A New Stereophonic Sound Spectacular
11. The Night Before
12. Hooverphonic With Orchestra/Hooverphonic With Orchestra Live (can't really decide which one is worse tbh)

Wow, this makes me feel like I should redive into their discography. Seems like I might have missed a thing or two.

wow, your #9 is my #1!

I recognize this is not the standard ranking among Dino Jr. fans.
Its the quality of the early recordings that drives me nuts.
The songs themselves RULE (the "solo" on Sludgefeast?? 🤘) but when you compare the sound quality to the later releases...I end up liking them better as albums.

I have the same issues with the early Metallica discography.
The majority of my favorite songs, when at the shows, are off the early albums, but I have a hard time listening to them straight through b/c of how thin they sound. (Not sure the Blackened Remasters are any better).

Pink Floyd

I will break it down into three tiers: must-haves, great albums, and the others ones...

1. The Piper at the Gates of Dawn
2. Wish You Were Here
3. Meddle
4. The Dark Side of the Moon
5. Relics (does it count?)

6. Animals
7. The Wall
8. Ummagumma
9. A Saucerful of Secrets
10. Atom Heart Mother
11. Obscured by Clouds

12. More
13. The Final Cut
14. The Division Bell
15. The Endless River
16. A Momentary Lapse of Reason

Since I’m seeing Vampire Weekend next month, I figured it was time to finally listen to all their albums!

1. Modern Vampires of the City
2. Father of the Bride
3. Vampire Weekend
4. Contra

All of them are good.

4. The Tennessee Fire
5. Circuital
6. The Waterfall II
7. Evil Urges
8. Split (w/ Songs: Ohia)
9. The Waterfall
10. Chocolate and Ice

Haven't listened in forever, but I would go:

1. DSOTM
2. Piper
3. Wish You Were Here
4. The Wall
5. Meddle
6. Animals
7. Ummagumma
8. Saucerful
9. Atom Heart Mother
10. Obscured
11. Final Cut
12. Momentary Lapse

Not sure I've ever listened to the others. My Great vs. Good line with Pink Floyd is between Meddle and Animals.
