What's Spinning

how’s this sound? Didn’t even know this existed and I love this band.

Sounds pretty good. It's from 2015. They did a few gigs where they opened with an acoustic set had an interval and then played an electric set.

I'm not sure if it was released to retail, I know I got mine from a pledgemusic type deal.

My collection #776-779

Orchestre Poly-Rythmo de Cotonou - Ma Tafou Gnon O & Ma Mon Nou Deo
Orchestre Black Santiago - Awe Ho Me
Adem - Ringing In My Ear

More 🔥 from Benin (love that they got about 10 different covers from one photo shoot for Black Santiago - see here and here top right), and a single of one of my favourite albums, Homesongs.

My collection #780-781

Thelonious Monk - Palo Alto
Elinborg - Landið Sum Ongin Sær / Spor

I feel pretty damn lucky to own this Monk album and only hope everybody else gets to soon too. The music is pretty decent but the package is one of the best I've seen - a replica programme, poster of the concert (that I missed first time round), and nice booklet. Plus, a Faroese cross post from the challenge yesterday.

Overwhelming in beauty, and rewards listeners with multiple plays through its nearly 90-minute runtime. While not accessible in the slightest, it has grown on me quickly, with its sprawling, ambitious direction having won me over. Shouldn't be too surprising considering she's my favorite artist of the decade. ;) Elated to be giving this another run after about a year removed from doing so.

Strand of Oaks "Pope Killdragon" (2019 Repress).

IMG_2923.JPG

This album is personally a favourite as Tim was a good "Internet" friend from when he was a school teacher a la indie musician. The liner notes were written from another good friend Morgan who I bought a very small indie record label from (and it had a J. Tillman album on it!). Aaaand the original 2010 pressing of the vinyl had an insert that quoted my old musicblog, Slowcoustic, in the 'one sheet'. So yeah, Pope Killdragon is a beast, play it loud y'all.

I finally fixed my issue with my debut carbon. Ever since i received my debut carbon, my subplatter was always uneven. After replacing my turntable, and talking to the dealer and telling them I was SURE it was the subplatter, they replaced that, and voila, 98% flat platter. I am one happy camper. Been spinning like crazy and enjoying every minute. The last 6 months dealing with this issue has ruined EVERY spinning session, with me over analyzing the movement of my tonearm.
TLDR; Replaced my sub platter on my Pro-ject Debut Carbon and no more wobble :)
