Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

We have a special offer uniquely for you. If you swap for credit between now and Friday (7/31) at 5pm ESTwe will give you a 20% bonus credit to your total amount.
*This offer is only available for those currently set to receive ‘Buena Vista Social Club’.

so, oversold / massive swap problem?
They confirmed it has already massively oversold. On your account page it says that the album is on backorder and anybody trying to sign up for it now will not receive the record on time.

The deal is only for swapping Essentials? Didn't make that clear in the email... I assumed the credit would count toward swapping any track.

Yeah I saw that disclaimer, but it doesn't actually saw "Swap your Essentials tracks and get...." or whatever. I just assumed you had to be signed up to get BVSC. Maybe I'm just being dense? Which is totally possible.
Are those not the same? Or are you saying you swapped classics or RHH for BVSC? They are trying to get people to swap out of BVSC because they massively oversold it. It now says that any new orders of BVSC won't ship until at least October.

They’re probably going to screw this up and delay delivery even for those that already had the track. I see some 20% off coupons coming in the near future.

I’m happy to give money to the artists and labels too, but then I have to pay on average a USD$20 shipping fee, and the $20 isn’t going to the artist, it’s going towards the shipping company. So that’s why I don’t support labels directly. I still do it occasionally (just purchased some stuff off from George Clanton recently even though shipping was a lot). But yeah, I don’t support labels directly due to shipping costs which is a shame.

That’s why nearly all my purchases are via Amazon and VMP because they do free shipping. Shipping determines a lot of the times what I ‘cannot’ buy.

Get out of bed, walk down the road into a record store, save yourself money on shipping and invest in a small business in the local community rather than a multinational tax avoiding vulture or a company that thinks that this community is worth less than the dirt or the sole of their shoes...

So, VMP is inevitably going to have to repress more? Thinking if I should take the credit, and grab it later down the road when it actually starts going out.
They have already said they need to press more. There's no way to know if you're in the first batch or 2nd batch of represses but it says that the repress won't arrive until at least October. My guess is the same as @punchy --they will inevitably screw up who gets in which batch and a 20% off coupon will make it's way onto here. For international subscribers, I'd take the extra credit. For US customers I don't see the point really...unless there is an album on preorder you really want from VMP right now and it's around $32. If you want BVSC I'd stand pat for a US subscriber and just get the inevitably 20% off coupon.

Looks like it is getting close to bucket time

I almost swapped BVSC earlier this week and just got the email about 20% more credit. Now that we all know they are desperate for people to swap, I'm thinking I'll hold out until just before tomorrow's deadline. Maybe they'll up the ante on credit? Or throw some AP titles in swaps?
I'd be shocked if they did either of those, but worth a gamble I suppose? International subscribers could take advantage of this extra credit and snag an AP for a good price by international standards.
