Pre-Order Thread

Glad to see a label other than Bludhoney is reissuing it, since they've gone off the grid after that Viper fiasco.
Also looks like this will be a new master, judging by the description, along with an unreleased track being added to the wax.
Yeah what is the story with that label? I'll admit I was bummed I didn't get a copy from them, I heard it sold out super quick, also the price out of the gate seemed like a bummer as well

Songs For Groovy Children
Songs For Groovy Childrencollects all four historic debut sets by Jimi Hendrix’s Band of Gypsys at New York’s Fillmore East on New Years Eve 1969 and New Years Day 1970. Presented in their original performance sequence and encompassing 43 tracks across 5 CDs or 8 LPs, the music is newly mixed without edits and fans can finally hear Hendrix, Billy Cox and Buddy Miles blast through their complete genre-defying sets. The lavish package is filled with unseen photos and remembrances from bassist Billy Cox and liner notes by author/journalist/filmmaker Nelson George. Songs For Groovy Children was produced by Janie Hendrix, Eddie Kramer and John McDermottand mastered by Grammy-winning engineer Bernie Grundman.

Would love to have this, but may need to be a Christmas present as I have been spending too much on live box sets lately and RSD Black Friday is fast approaching.

Whatever your situation with VMP is, you might want to close two eyes and get it over with for this release tomorrow - or just buy the widely available regular black copy, if you haven’t done so already.
One of the finest electronics releases of the decade and it brings back a bit of the lovely summer breeze.

Looks pretty nice at first glance.

"Vinyl Cut By Bernie Grundman" is a good sign. :) Wonder what color they'll do first.

And here's how to play it right to undercut their ridiculous pricing:
Simply wait for next month's swap.

I highly doubt that Swim will sell out that quick - especially since it's limited to 1000 and the regular pressing being still in print.

Is there a Chromatics record that hasn't been cut by Bernie?
But yes, loving all of my (and yes, sometimes multiple) copies of them!
I'll see them in two weeks. YAY.
Hoping for some surprises at the merch stand - though I highly doubt that...

So apparently Fat Beats is reissuing the Samurai Champloo soundtrack. I got the email at 7 am, but it's already sold out. Anybody manage to get one?

People have been reporting that this is a bootleg FYI. It has been popping up lately at a lot of stores and online shops. I think I saw that even Fat Jon has said these are bootlegs. Supposedly the sound quality is good though.

Anyone here get their hands on the Japanese Khruangbin release? How did you go about ordering it?
As others said, I also got this on amazon.jp. You do need to create a new amazon account but I want to say it was around $40 shipped for me? Mine also had a little bit of damage on the sleeve but nothing crazy. It's amazon shipping but sent all the way from Japan. The box it was in was destroyed pretty much but somehow the record survived even though it was packed in the box with just some paper around it.

Amoeba Review

Tidal Waves Music proudly presents: FUNKADELIC Live – Meadowbrook, Rochester, Michigan – 12th September 1971.

This edition comes packaged as a deluxe 180g DOUBLE LP set with insert. Limited to 100 copies GOLD vinyl (Amoeba Exclusive).

Contained here is a unique snapshot of Funkadelic’s live performance at the height of their powers. Recorded live at Meadowbrook, Rochester, Michigan on the 12th of September 1971, this is the only official in-concert recording from their early career.

The crystal clear recordings here (taken from the soundboard master tapes) provide you with an overdose of free-floating psychedelic black rock and spaced-out jams that can only be described as ‘Jimi Hendrix, James Brown & Sun Ra making a love-child live on stage’.

This release also includes extensive & exhaustive liner notes from the Grammy-award winning professor of ethnomusicology ‘Rob Bowman’ who goes over each track in detail and also wrote down quotes from Bernie Worrell & Billy Bass.

Featuring an all-star line up that includes George Clinton, Fuzzy Haskins, Calvin Simon, Grady Thomas, Ray Davis, Tyrone Lampkin, Eddie Hazel, Billy Bass Nelson, Bernie Worrell & former Isaac Hayes sideman Harold Beane.

I have read discussions that have suggested that this might be something along the lines that it was initially going to be an official release and then something happened where they couldn't clear all the samples but they were so far along they went ahead and released anyways but no longer as an official release. some of the stores it was up for sale definitely mess around with unofficial releases but I have never seen Fatbeats push an unofficial release. Also, the way this has rolled out. I could see TTL and/or Bull Moose getting their own small run pressings too.

Sounds interesting. World music. Can’t get the video to link but very hypnotic.

“Sublime recordings from rural Niger. Two very different sides of Tuareg music - dreamy ishumar acoustic guitar sessions, and the hypnotic polyphonic tende that inspires it. Guitarist Fatou Seidi Ghali and vocalist Alamnou Akrouni lead the troupe, named after the village. Recorded in the open air studio of the desert.”

I've gotten bootlegs from Fat Beats before but they are typically clearly listed. You could be right too though about the samples not getting cleared so Fat Jon wanting to distance himself

Didn't want you guys to miss out on the FOMO.
